NEW YORK -- And we thought SpongeBob lived under the sea.

Norwegian Cruise Line Wednesday announced a major partnership with Nickelodeon to bring SpongeBob and other well-known Nickelodeon characters to at least two of its ships in the coming months. Starting in April on the Norwegian Jewel and July on the soon-to-debut Norwegian Epic, passengers will find Nickelodeon-themed interactive shows, poolside entertainment, character breakfasts, character meet and greets, dance parties and more.  Nickelodeon-themed elements will also be incorporated into Norwegian's Kids' Crew program.
The program, announced during an event aboard the Norwegian Gem in New York, is aimed at drawing more families to the line, and executives told USA TODAY it could spread to more NCL ships if it proves successful.  With the exception of the character breakfasts, there will be no extra charge for the Nickelodeon-themed offerings. Character breakfasts with the likes of SpongeBob and Nickelodeon's Dora will come with a charge that has yet to be set.The three-year partnership also will bring a handful of special Nickelodeon-themed cruises each year featuring Nickelodeon TV stars, show premieres and continuous themed-entertainment on the ship.
